Yurt
Yurt
The site is located in Klil, an off-grid village in Northern Israel. The hilly landscape is covered in an olive grove. Yurt construction has a light structure with minimal impact on the ground. It sidesteps the removal of existing olive trees and has views in all directions.
For a family of five, the diameter of the yurt is large at 15 metres (49 feet) wide. The central oculus tracks the movement of the sun throughout the day. Every room benefits from the central light and natural ventilation because the bedrooms do not have ceilings. Half of the floor plan is devoted to a large shared common area - large enough to accommodate an afternoon nap while children play.
